Sometimes, it’s hard to get into the holiday spirit. If you’re seeking some joy this month, get into the fun with some awesome local holiday events. Holly Springs and other Wake County towns have plenty of ways to get rid of your bah-humbugs. Here are just a few in our area.

Main Street Christmas – Our special Christmas celebration here in Holly Springs takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 8 at the Holly Springs Town Hall and Cultural Center. This free event includes a visit from Santa, hayrides, and carolers, along with hot chocolate, and of course, the big lighting of the tree. Event highlights include:

  • Visit with Santa at Town Hall until 7:15 p.m.
  • Hayrides
  • Gingerbread contest and refreshments at the Coworking Station
  • Refreshments at the Cultural Center
  • Live entertainment at Town Hall and the Cultural Center
  • Stories with Mrs. Claus at the Cultural Center
  • Crafts at the Cultural Center
  • The annual Town tree lighting on the Cultural Center lawn at 8 p.m.

Happy Holly Days ParadeThe Happy Holly Days Parade cruises through downtown on Main Street at 11 a.m. Dec. 9. Annual entries include everything from local school marching bands to martial arts schools. One of the most beautiful entries is the Holly Springs School of Dance with its more than 300 costumed dancers.

The North Carolina Chinese Lantern Festival – If you’re venturing away from Holly Springs, the Lantern festival is a must-do. This year’s festival has more than 20 new displays, each one comprised of hundreds of parts, and thousands of LED lights. These lighted artistic creations are stunning and are on display through early January, giving you plenty of time to visit.
